P.S....

New Orleans Hornets beat the Denver Nuggets today to get the series to 2-1 in favor of Denver. Way to close the gap guys! Chris Paul (who is amazing!) had 29 points and 12 assists. Lets win this thing!

With The 14th Pick In The 2009 NFL Draft, The New Orleans Saints Pick...

Cornerback Malcom Jenkings from Ohio State!!!! Great pick. If you look at a post a couple of days back, I predicted this to be the pick and also stated it would make the most sense. Saints didn't have a 2nd round pick today but that's ok. We get back at it today with the 2nd day in the draft with the Saints having a 4th, 6th, and 7th round pick still left. We may trade a pick for moving up and picking up a bruiser type running back. We shall see. Anyway, its a good way to bolster our defense with Jenkins. Go Saints!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't Happen...

New Orleans lost. Better luck at home on Saturday...

Basketball Update...

New Orleans Hornets are losing to the Denver Nuggets by 16 points with 2:28 to play in the 3rd quarter. New Orleans better pick it up! If they go down 2-0 in the series its going to be tough to come back. Next game luckily is in New Orleans on Saturday. Still chance for tonight though...

Sitting here...

At John Wayne Airport (Orange County, CA) heading to Sacramento for the week for work. I'll be back Friday. Supposed to be really hot this week up there, 95 degrees today. More reason to stay in my hotel room after work and blog. Might meet up with friends I haven't seen in awhile up there...

2009 NFL Draft...

The 2009 NFL Draft is this coming Saturday and Sunday April 24-25. The Saints first pick is the #14 overall pick and most analysts have narrowed it down to 3 players the Saints are most likey to pick. Cornerback Malcom Jenkings from Ohio State (who I hope they pic), Running Back Chris "Beenie" Wells from Ohio State, or Linebacker Brian Cushing from Southern California (USC). Jenkins would be my choice, although trading the #14 spot and letting someone else pick and hopefully still picking up Cushing would be a great move also. This would also give the saints either a 2nd or
3rd round pick for the move down and they could pick up a bruiser running back with that pick. They are looking at Liberty Running Back Rashad Jennings, and he could be available if they pick up that 2nd or 3rd round pick. Beacause of previous trades for Jeremy Shockey and Jonathan Vilma the Saints are without a 2nd and 3rd round pick this year, which is another reason to trade down in position. An outside contender for the pick is also Cornerback Vontae Davis of Illinois. Well anyway, those are my thoughts, lets see how it turns out...

Weird And Kinda F-ed Up lol...

Republicans Making Changes In The Right Direction, Or Should I Say Left Direction...

So there have been several instances this week of prominent and up and coming Republicans changing their views on some interesting issues. Is this a shift in philosophy for the Republican party? I sure hope so...

On the issue of gay marriage and gay rights there seems to be a shift on the stubborn and discriminatory past views from staunch conservative Republicans. First off, this Friday (tomorrow), Steve Schmidt, a key architect of John McCain's presidential campaign, will speak to the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay rights group. Schmidt will use this speech to urge conservative Republicans to drop their opposition to same-sex marriage. This should make for an interesting speech and I can't wait to hear what backlash other Republicans give him for being a honest and decent person.

Also the Log Cabin Republicans will be getting support from the McCain Family, yes that McCain family. Cindy and Meghan McCain will be making appearances during the Log Cabin Republican's four day convention in Washington. Others in the Republican party that have started to show support for gay rights have been Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, a Mormon Republican who has called for the adoption of civil unions, and Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who acknowledged that gay Republicans have a place at the party's table. These are extremely positive trends and I truly hope they continue.

Lastly an up and coming Republican (and possible pres. contender in 2012) Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindel came out and acknowledged today on ABC's Good Morning America that " "I don't think we should question President Obama's patriotism or his intentions." This is something Republicans have tried to use in their arsenal since before the election and continue to do so on a daily basis, usually with inflammatory and uncredited "facts". Gov. Jindel also went on to say that Republicans should "give the new administration a chance". I was also surprised to hear that Gov. Jindel had some harsh comments for former Vice President Dick Cheney and suggested that the former Vice President should tone down his criticism of President Obama's national security policies. Bravo to Gov. Jindel (Gov of the state I grew up in lol) for stepping up and being a little bit more open minded then his peers (hello Sarah Palin, I'm looking right at you). Although I do not agree with many other issues the Republican party supports, it is healthy to have the "loyal opposition" and "honest disagreement" amongst the two major political parties and this is the way it should be conducted.

Is it a legitimate shift in view for the Republican party? Is it the beginning of a hybrid or third party? I don't know, but I'm liking the direction we are going in, I hope it continues...
